The E.C. Moore Symposium on Excellence in Teaching brings together stakeholders in the higher education community across Indiana to examine teaching excellence and innovative pedagogies that encourage student learning.
The Edward C. Moore Symposium is one of IUPUI’s longest-running public events. In addition to two sets of concurrent breakout sessions, this year features plenary speaker Dr. Crystal Walcott on the topic of "Impacting Student Outcomes and Self-efficacy through Transparency in Teaching." Keynote speaker Dr. Dawn Whitehead will be discussing "The Power of Intentional Alignment: Connecting Institutional Global Learning and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives to Prepare Students for Today and Tomorrow's Challenges."

Looking for a way to make your course content more accessible? This webinar, offered by the IU campus Teaching and Learning Centers in collaboration with the Assistive Technology and Accessibility Center, will introduce a new tool that is intended to help you create accessible content for your students. Join us as we discuss Anthology Ally and walk you through how it can be leveraged in your Canvas course.

The showcase will be an opportunity to hear directly from instructors who have adopted open and affordable materials and learn more about how students received their new materials. The event will kick off with a talk from Amanda Hurford (Scholarly Communications Director at the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana) about large-scale open education efforts in Indiana. Then a panel of IUB's 2020 and 2021 Course Material Fellowship Program (CMFP) fellows will explore the challenges and benefits of transitioning from a traditional textbook to other alternatives. Lunch will be provided, followed by an opportunity to talk one-on-one with CMFP fellows and IU Libraries staff about course material development options, tools, and support.
Attendees are welcome to drop in and out of the event as their session allows, but registration is required.
Open Educators Award
The Scholarly Communication Department is proud to announce its inaugural Open Educators Award. The Award will be given to one or more IU Bloomington instructors who use Open Educational Resources (OER) in their courses. Self-nominations are welcome. Applications are due on March 17, 2023, and a winner will be announced by the end of spring semester. The awardee will receive a monetary award and recognition through IU Libraries Communication channels
In this hands-on workshop, attendees will learn about generative AI technologies such as image generators like Dall-E and text generators like ChatGPT.
During the workshop, participants will have the chance to use both technologies. Through discussions and presentations, we will also consider the applications and implications of these technologies.
Please note that to participate in the hands-on parts of the workshop, participants will need an OpenAI account for access to Dall-E and ChatGPT. If you don't already have an account, we encourage you to go to ChatGPT's site and sign up beforehand to ensure a smoother experience during the workshop. For those who are unable to or prefer not to create an account, we will have alternate means by which you can participate.
